These are some patterns that I recently purchased. I got them when Hancock's was having a sale and I was looking for a cheap way to get a fix.

This is the Hotpatterns Weekender Sunshine top I recently made. At first I wasn't sure I liked it. I have worn it several times and it is quite comfortable.

These are recently got some new fabric. Woohoo!

This is some fabric that I got to make pajamas for a special little girl in my life. These four are flannel.

Most of these are lycra. I decided that I am going to try my hand at making some new bras. Now I just have to get a pattern.

This whole pile of fabric is shirtings. I love shirtings. I got all of these Ressy's coop Fabrics and Notions. They are all made of Pima Cotton.

This last piece I got for mother's day from my wonderful daughter. It is Italian cotton denim that is going to become a shirt for myself sometime.

I also purchased the Consew CES 300 gravity feed iron. Now all I have to do is learn to use it.

My flower bed

This is my flower bed made for me for Mother's day. I will very soon be planting flower seeds so that I can have pretty flowers this summer. This raised bed is 14 foot long, 2 foot wide and 2 foot high. Lots of pretty flowers.

I have finally finished Butterick 5215 . http://butterick.mccall.com/search-pages-624.php?search_term=5215 It is a Connie Crawford pattern. I think I have decided that I don't care for her patterns. I don't think I am the shape that she is designing for. I cut this out of a size 2X like I have other patterns from her, but still had to make a ton of changes. I chose View B, the semi-fitted, because I don't like really tight shirts. One of the worst problems was that the hem really angles out. For me, after you get past my high hips, I am fairly straight down. My widest part is my high hip, widest as in from one side to the other, not around.

I will not be making this pattern again. I have started a Jalie pattern and we will see, how it works to grade that.

Fitting Tips Spreadsheet

I have created an Excel spreadsheet that shows what tips are contained in which book of the four fitting books I own. This is a very primitive version and is a work in progress. If anyone would like a copy, email me and I will email it to you.

Here are pictures of my sewing room as it is arranged now, after my move up from the basement last fall.

I had a great day today. I went to several thrift stores and a used book store and got some great deals. The above pattern I liked, but can't tell you why, but it came home with me. Here are some other ones.

I thought this one was incredibly cute. Thinking of my DGD in a few years.

Again, thinking of my DGD.

I loved the skirt with this pattern. It is made out of velour and looks uber comfy.

Can I say I just fell in love with this look? I don't even wear skirts, but ....

Don't ask me why I liked this one, but I did, so it came home with me.

I got about 5 more vintagey patterns, but they are all kid patterns.

So I have been the sewing the dress from you know where the last couple of weeks. I actually cut it out in May or June, sewed on it a bit and put it away. It is intended to be a fancy play dress for my granddaughter.

It is made out of Minkee silky material and polyester organza. Yech! What was I thinking?

I am finally making progress. I did break down and get a walking foot for my machine. I wanted to wait a bit as it was so expensive, but .... I am really glad I bought it now and not later!

One of things that I did for myself for Christmas was to sell my Janome CP1000, which I have used 7 times in 2 1/2 years, and used that money as a downpayment on upgrading my Bernina 430 to the Bernina 630 that I really wanted when I bought the 430 in September. I got it for a great price and I am really happy I did it.

Lest anyone think I am out of my mind, I still have my Babylock Evolve that has coverstitch capability, to use for those few times I need it. Ya see, I just don't sew with knits much and having to figure out more thread options/storage kinda drove me nuts.

Happy 2010!
