These are two blouses that I have finished in the last two weeks. While neither one of them is perfect, they are both so much better than anything I can buy. I am quietly celebrating having something that fits. Woohoo!

Muslin 1, Muslin 2 and Muslin 3.

It is amazing what it takes to learn how to fit patterns. I have found out things about how I am shaped that I have totally not known until I started trying to get clothes that fit.

I am working on Butterick 5300 and am not one of those that it fits straight out of the envelope. I guess I am not ever going to think that about a pattern again.

To get this to fit I have done 2 muslins and revamped the 2nd muslin on top of that. I am now working on a blouse in regular fabric to see how it works and having made all the changes to the pattern, rather than in the muslin. So we shall see!

This is my most recent sewing project. My DGD calls them glovettes. She is being a Monster Bride for Halloween and needed glovettes to go with her costume. The fabric is actually black cotton with the skulls an embroidery design from Embroidery Library. Added some frou frou along the cuff and they are done. They are satisfactory according to my DGD.

I am mostly done moving my sewing room back upstairs. The cutting table and fabric is still in the basement, but at least I don't suffer from mushroom syndrome anymore. It is easier to get to when I am creaky in the morning. I think I am being slightly more productive.

I have finally finished a shirt for myself. It is Simplicity's Khaliah Ali 3990. I had a heck of a time. I finally figured out that the size range is wrong for my shoulder area, but I got it done!

I have been doing a bit of sewing. I haven't taken pictures, because I forget before I give them away.

In the last two months I have finished a 24"x42" Halloween wall hanging for my son-in-law. I have finished two tank tops and a knit bolero for my granddaughter, so I have been learning about sewing with knits. That is something worth doing on its own.

I have cut out a muslin of a shirt for myself, but haven't had a chance to finish it yet. Hopefully, I can get the muslin sewn together in the next day or so.

I am sewing again. It is nice to be sewing. Most of my sewing is for my DGD. I have made two shirts of myself and two nightgowns.

I have great news! In September I am going to be moving part of my sewing room back upstairs and have only my cutting table and fabric in the basement. Oh, happy day! I love the size of my room, but I really feel cutoff sometimes.

I have lost my sewing and embroidery mojo. I don't know where it went, but I sure would like it back. I have too much to do and just can't get anything done.

This is a dress I recently finished for my granddaughter. It is from Simplicity 3900. It fit her fairly well straight out of the envelope. It was easy to make, although I really did have to practice my gathering skills with this dress.

One of the things I love doing is machine embroidery. These are two of the things I have done. I really enjoy creating tablecloths, tablerunners and things of that sort. I am actually a mediocre seamstress, but I am a pretty good embroider. Now, I just need to tackle mastering digitizing embroidery designs and I will be an even better embroiderer.

These are pictures of my sewing room. The bins are all filled with my fabric. The sewing room is in the basement so I keep things in bins to keep out dust and bugs. I would really like to be able to have cupboards, but that is just not gonna happen, so this is what I have. I have a lot of lighting so it really is a bright and sunny room. I am truly blessed to be able to have this space.

Well, here it is 2009 and I have one project finished. Of course, it is a 2008 Christmas present, but, hey it is only Jan 2, 2009, so isn't so bad.

I am still working on cleaning the sewing room, although it is not too bad right now.

Next, to finish the pants and top for my granddaughter that I started in early December. Jeans and a T-shirt.
